Agroecology
Agroecology focuses on making agriculture and food systems more sustainable. It considers agricultural systems holistically to improve the health and well-being of people.

Agronomy
Learn how to find answers to the important challenges facing agriculture. Study plant biology, ecology, genetics, biotechnology, crop management and protection, and more.

Horticulture
Study the science and art of growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants. Train in greenhouse and field management and the production of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and woody ornamentals.

Plant Science & Technology
Plants grown in cultivated environments have critical roles in sustaining life and in supporting our economy. Learn the basic processes in plants, develop new varieties of crops, support natural ecosystems, and create new agricultural technologies.
Scholarships
CALS students receive more than $1.25 million annually in scholarship awards.
CALS has over 240 funds from which they award scholarships. Students from a variety of backgrounds receive awards.
The average scholarship award for CALS students is $2,500.

Research opportunities
Students can find many jobs within the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences and CALS. Positions are typically over the summer field season.
Postings can often be found on the Student Job Center (under “Agriculture and Natural Resources” or “STEM”) or the Nelson Institute job board.
Students may also contact faculty for available research opportunities.
