Plant Science & Technology
Admitting new students summer of 2026
The new Plant Science & Technology program focuses on the scientific principles and technology underlying the cultivation of agricultural plants and their utilization for food, feed, fiber, energy, and well-being. The degrees will emphasize technology and interdisciplinarity within plant science subfields.

Horticulture
Horticulture – the science and art of growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants – has deep roots at UW-Madison. Through the Horticulture program, students can join cutting-edge research and work closely with internationally recognized faculty.

Agronomy
The mission of the Agronomy program is to generate, integrate, and apply knowledge about crop plants that are grown for food, feed, and the general benefit of humankind. We find and disseminate answers to problems and discover opportunities concerning efficiency and sustainability of production, improvements in quality, and methods for safe and environmentally-sound practices.

Agroecology
The Agroecology program trains students to research and engage with agricultural systems in a broader environmental and socio-economic context. This program is truly interdisciplinary with affiliated faculty members from nearly 20 departments across campus.
