I am originally from Nepal. I completed my master’s in plant biology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and my bachelor’s in agriculture from Banaras Hindu University. Currently, I’m pursuing my PhD in plant breeding and plant genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Dr. Lucia Gutierrez. My PhD project includes development and evaluation of various strategies to account for genotype by environment interaction (GEI) in genomic prediction models. The idea is to integrate various source and sink yield components as well as environmental covariates into the model to better understand and improve the prediction model. My project also involves use of high-throughput phenotyping systems, i.e. drones, to better understand the components and drivers of GEI. Additionally, I am involved in speed breeding projects to accelerate the breeding cycles.
